The Japan House is a Northern-most point where you can get in touch with Japanese culture.  Our keywords are friendship and co-operation. 

This house was built as a result of friendship between Ranua municipality and Iwasakimura Village in Northern Japan.

In Japan House you may enjoy of the
homy atmosphere and learn about traditional Japanese culture.

The Japan House  as a Residence of Art is a Japanese style house located by the beautiful lake Simojärvi, Ranua 45 km from the center of Ranua Municipality and one hour´s ride to south from Rovaniemi.
The Residence offers a possibility to foreign and Finnish artists of various field to live and work in a peaceful, beautiful surroundings in the midst of Lappish nature.
During their stay the artists get an opportunity to get acquainted with the local artists, art societies an institutions.
The artist is expected to contribute to the local community their art in some way, e.g. by exhibitions or work-shops.
